A law firm doesn’t need traffic. It needs the phone to ring with the right person on the line: an artist with a contract to sign, a producer negotiating royalties, an athlete with an NIL deal on the table. That makes legal one of the hardest and most expensive niches in Google Ads.

Pixelco runs Google Ads, SEO and the website for an entertainment law firm in Miami. We took the project over from another team in September 2024. This is how we rebuilt it and grew the results every year since.

The services we advertise

The firm covers the whole legal side of music, sports and entertainment. These are the practice areas we promote in Google Ads and organic search:

Where we started: fall 2024

In September 2024 we took over the firm’s marketing from another team. The ads were bringing almost no qualified calls. Before scaling anything, we rebuilt the foundation:

  • Cleaned up and rebuilt the website, so the ads and the site work as one and calling or booking takes as few steps as possible.
  • Set up tracking that tells a real call from a tap on a phone number or an email link, so the budget follows what actually brings leads.
  • Started cutting low-intent traffic. Legal searches attract students, job seekers and people looking for free advice.

What we did

1. Rebuilt measurement around real calls. Calls from ads that last long enough to be a real conversation became the main goal, so Google’s bidding learns from what actually brings leads. Forms, emails and bookings are tracked separately.

2. Focused the budget on high-intent searches. Weekly search-term reviews and a growing negative keyword list cut traffic that never turns into a call. Clicks fell by half; calls doubled.

3. Made calling and booking easy. We build and maintain the firm’s website, so the ads and the site changed together: a visible phone number, call-from-ad options and, since February 2026, online consultation booking.

4. Ran SEO alongside the ads. The same team handles the firm’s SEO, so the pages people land on from ads are also built to rank in Google. Practice-area pages, local Miami signals and content around the questions clients actually search for work for both paid and organic traffic. Ads bring calls today; SEO builds a flow of leads the firm doesn’t pay per click for.

Content was the engine. Blog posts answering the niche questions entertainment clients actually search, such as what a music lawyer does or how to stay compliant in online businesses, became the fastest-growing pages on the site.

5. Turned the Google profile into a trust signal. For a law firm, reviews decide who gets the call. We pushed the firm to collect reviews from every satisfied client, added office and team photos, updated the description, categories and services, and now reply to every review. Today the profile holds a 4.9★ rating, and people who find the firm in Google Maps see a firm they can trust before they dial.

6. Scaled only after it worked. The budget stayed at about $1800 a month while calls grew. Only in September 2026, with calls growing month after month, did we raise it.

2024: taking over and rebuilding. We took the project over in September, cleaned up and rebuilt the website, relaunched the ads and grew the budget step by step from $130 to about $1000 a month while the account collected data. That became the baseline for everything that followed.

2025: the breakthrough. In February and March we rebuilt tracking for calls, forms and email in GA4. With a stable budget of about $1800 a month we widened reach, and in December switched the focus to real calls. For the year: +780% qualified calls per month compared with 2024, and the cost per qualified call fell by 66%.

2026: growth on top of growth. Online consultation booking went live in February, and the month set a new record for qualified calls. From March to June we cleaned out low-intent traffic, and calls per 100 clicks rose from 0.8 to 5.2. July, August and September each beat the month before, and in September we raised the budget. January–September 2026: 160% more qualified calls than the same months of 2025, at a 56% lower cost per qualified call, on a budget only 14% higher.

The latest quarter, year over year

Every month of July–September 2026 brought more qualified calls than the same month of 2025, on a budget only 15% higher.

The cost per qualified call fell 45% year over year, while the average service the firm sells is worth about $27k: a single sold service covers more than a year of the ad budget.

Qualified calls = calls from ads that Google Ads counted as a conversion.

SEO: organic traffic tripled in one summer

While the ads brought calls, SEO built a second source of leads the firm doesn’t pay per click for. After a dip in early spring, we recovered traffic with new blog content, and growth has been steady since.

Organic clicks grew 3.3× from June to August, and August alone was 2.6× July.

Under the hood: the technical work

Most law firm accounts fail on the details nobody sees in a report. This one is run by two specialists: an SEO lead with 15 years in search and a dedicated Google Ads specialist, who plan the ads, the site and organic search together.

Google Ads

  • Conversion architecture. Qualified calls are the conversions that count: calls from ads that pass a minimum call length, plus calls to the firm's tracked number. Forms, email clicks and bookings are tracked as separate actions, so a tap on a phone number is never mistaken for a client.
  • GA4 tracking rebuilt in February–March 2025 for calls, forms and email, so Google Ads and analytics count the same events the same way.
  • Search-term mining every week. Queries from students, job seekers and people looking for free advice go to a growing negative keyword list. Result: calls per 100 clicks rose from 0.8 to 5.2 between March and June 2026.
  • Scaling by the numbers. The budget moved only after months of stable growth in calls and a falling cost per call, so smart bidding scaled on a signal it had already learned.

SEO

  • Topic research in a narrow niche. Content targets the exact questions entertainment clients search, such as what a music lawyer does or how online businesses stay compliant. These posts became the fastest-growing pages on the site.
  • Practice-area pages built for both channels. The pages ads send traffic to are also structured to rank, so every improvement pays off in paid and organic search.
  • Technical health. Pages, the blog and attorney profiles are indexed, structured data is in place, and the firm ranks for "entertainment lawyer Miami".
  • Visibility in AI search. The site and profiles are set up to be easy for AI assistants to read. Impressions in Gemini and Google AI Mode grew three months in a row, to 11600 in August 2026.
  • Local SEO and the Google Business Profile. Categories, services, description, photos and a review routine with a reply to every review: a 4.9★ rating.
  • Recovery, not panic. After a dip in early spring 2026 we recovered traffic with new content, and organic clicks grew 3.3× from June to August.

What worked: 4 lessons for law firms

  1. Count calls, not clicks. If your report shows hundreds of “leads” but the phone is quiet, the account is counting the wrong thing. Fix tracking before you touch the budget.
  2. Judge by cost per qualified call, not cost per click. A pricier click that turns into a qualified call beats ten cheap clicks that don’t.
  3. Ads, SEO and the website are one system. A visible phone number, a short form, a booking option and pages that rank on their own do as much as bids and keywords.
  4. Scale what works, not what’s broken. Get the cost per qualified call down first, then add budget.
